Janet’s work explores materials, processes, and spiritual landscapes.  She is a painter.  But she also uses paint, metal, fused glass, clay, graphite, printmaking, and other materials and tools in various experimental combinations.  She also loves to do conceptual installations, sculpture, and performance art whenever she gets the chance.

Janet is a published political cartoonist, a budding curator, a consultant specializing in cultural issues, and a teacher of art workshops to kids.

An enthusiastic promoter of the arts, she is presently serving as Chair of the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council and Secretary of Visual Arts Nova Scotia.

Graduating from NSCAD University in 1990 with an honours BFA, majoring in studio (sculpture, ceramics, and drawing) and minoring in art history, she also studied at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Last year she opened a collaborative gallery with Brad Hall and Jan Coulter in Annapolis Royal called the Marsh Gallery.  The three are working on an upcoming installation called Prayer Flags, to be shown at ARTsPLACE in Annapolis Royal, and may travel to as far away as Mongolia.

Janet lives and works in rural Nova Scotia.
