John Newman | Salt Spring Island Estates & Appraisals at Steffich Fine Art

Expert of Antiques & Collectibles

John and his lovely wife Susan operated Britannia Antiques & Estates in Victoria for 4+ years.

Recently, John began to focus on the Salt Spring and Gulf Island demographic. With an ever aging population and the 'downsizing' trend (tiny homes), there is an ever growing need for trust worthy and reliable appraising knowledge.  John specializes in all antiques, jewelry, musical instruments, collectibles and more.

Prior to moving to the West coast Canada, John and Susan owned a very successful music store for 25 years in Simcoe Ontario called, Erie Music. They specialized in rare and vintage instruments.  They also operated a successful music school which, at it's prime offered 350 children music lessons - from ukuleles to bag pipes - hosting 17 music teachers.

John is an avid bicyclist and plays guitar.  He was one of the members in the memorable Salt Spring band, Lane 31.   He currently own's a vintage pre war Martin guitar - and is very interested in the velomobile bicycle trend as seen in Europe.

Susan has her masters in fine art.  She worked in the acting industry for many years.  She worked on the "Beach Combers" and appeared in the famous cult film by Lou Atler called "All Washed Up / Ladies and Gental Man the Fabulous Stains" - which also featured the emerging band, The Clash and actress Dianne Lane.  Susan specializes in collecting and appraising vintage clothing.
