This is a certificate of authenticity to verify that the carving above, “Totem” was created by Ellen Neel (1957). She was a Kwakwakaʼwakw artist woodcarver and is the first woman known to have professionally carved totem poles. From Alert Bay, British Columbia, her work is in public collections throughout the world.
