    At the end of the road where I live, is a fence, part of the Bryon's Farm. I love to walk by it, as the feeling of it is misty with light shining through, and the fence is very solid and old.

    Each work of art made by Bly Kaye is comprised of delicately hand painted tissue paper collage layered carefully on canvas.   

    The natural landscapes she translates are often perspectives seen around her home, or during her travels.   These excellent paper collage masterpieces are something to see in person.

    Collage Artist Bly Kaye

    Bly Kaye is a multi-disciplinary Canadian artist based on Salt Spring Island. Trained in printmaking, design, and education, she has spent decades exploring painting, drawing, weaving, paper-mâché, textiles, and now collage — her primary medium for over ten years. Her work is rooted in place, shaped by the shifting seasons and landscapes of British Columbia, Canada, and Mexico.

    Artist Statement

    “Throughout my practice I’ve moved through many mediums — painting, drawing, printmaking, weaving, and paper-based materials. About ten years ago I began exploring collage, and it continues to offer new ways to work with colour, texture, and memory. My art is tied to locale, shaped by the seasons and landscapes of home and my travels through Canada and Mexico.”

    Each piece of tissue is custom hand dyed, dried, ironed prior to being cut and carefully glued to the canvas. There are many layers of tissue required to achieve the deep tones for these masterful tissue paper collage landscapes.
