The Calm before the Crawl: David Wilson Opens His Studio Ahead of the 2025 Eastside Culture Crawl

November 14, 2025

David Wilson Opens His Studio Ahead of the 2025 Eastside Culture Crawl

Tuesday, November 18, 2025 — 5:00 to 8:00 PM

Parker Street Studios, 1000 Parker Street – Studio 280, Vancouver, BC

For more than two decades, David Wilson’s paintings have captured the atmosphere of Vancouver’s streets — cinematic corners, late-evening reflections, shifting light, and those unmistakable urban moods that make his work so sought after by collectors across Canada.

This November, he opens his studio two nights early, welcoming art collectors big and small for an early look at the entirely new collection he’s been creating for the Culture Crawl.

The evening will include:

  • A private studio tour

  • New paintings unveiled for the first time

  • light refreshments

  • Casual conversation with David and studio manager/partner Marnie Wilson of ArtzBiz

It’s a rare, relaxed moment inside one of Vancouver’s most artistic landmarks.

Inside Parker Street Studios — Vancouver’s Creative Nerve Centre

Housed in a historic 152,000-square-foot warehouse, Parker Street Studios is home to more than 227 artists working across 110 studios. Painters, sculptors, printmakers, photographers, woodworkers — the building hums with inspiration day and night.

During the Culture Crawl, Parker Street becomes one of the city’s busiest art destinations, with thousands exploring its four floors. But a private pre-Crawl evening lets collectors experience the space as it truly is: focused, inviting, and full of inspiration.

The Eastside Culture Crawl — A Vancouver Tradition

Now entering its 29th year, the Eastside Culture Crawl is one of Western Canada’s most beloved arts festivals. Produced by the Eastside Arts Society, the event opens hundreds of artist studios across Vancouver’s Eastside boundaries: Columbia Street, 2nd Avenue, Victoria Drive, and the Waterfront.

Visitors can explore:

  • Open studios

  • Live demonstrations

  • Workshops

  • Emerging artists

  • Established professional painters

  • Sculptors, jewellers, furniture makers, potters, photographers, and more

It’s one of the best ways to experience Vancouver’s thriving contemporary art scene — and to meet the artists shaping it.

Can’t Attend the Private Preview?
Join the Culture Crawl

If you’re unable to join us on November 18, you can still meet the artist during the full Eastside Culture Crawl weekend. Wilson’s studio will be open to the public, and we encourage visitors to explore Parker Street Studios in all its bustling glory.

Visitors often discover new favourite artists, expand their collections, and gain insight into the creative processes happening within Vancouver’s most iconic artist hub.

From Salt Spring Island to Vancouver — A Note From Steffich Fine Art

I (Kaeli) will be stepping away from the gallery on Salt Spring for the week — Dad will be holding down the fort — to join David and Marnie for this special evening. If you attend, I would love to see you there in person. If not, I’m always happy to send a digital preview of available pieces after the event.

Collectors have long supported David Wilson’s practice, and we’re thrilled to help showcase his newest body of work during this year’s Culture Crawl.
